Rihanna is a Barbadian singer, businesswoman, actress and songwriter. Her mother is Afro-Guyanese, while her father is a Barbadian of African, Irish, English, and Scottish descent. She has two younger brothers, Rorrey and Rajad Fenty, as well as two half-sisters and a half-brother from her father's previous relationships.

She is widely regarded as one of the most prominent recording artists of the 21st century.

Signed with Def Jam Recordings in 2005, she gained mainstream recognition following the release of her first two studio albums, Music of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006), influenced by Caribbean music, both peaking in the top ten on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Her third album, Good Girl Gone Bad (2007), incorporated elements of dance-pop and established her as a major icon in the music industry. Its lead single, "Umbrella" peaked the US Billboard Hot 100, won her first Grammy Award, and ushered her into global stardom.

As of January 2026, Rihanna has amassed 149.0 million followers on Instagram, 16.2 million followers on TikTok and 45.4 million subscribers on her YouTube platform.

American rapper ASAP Rocky confirmed that he and Rihanna were in a relationship in May 2021. She gave birth to their first son in 2022. She gave birth to their second son in 2023, after previously revealing she was pregnant during her Super Bowl LVII halftime show performance; and becoming the first person to headline a Super Bowl halftime show while pregnant.
